Roof Leak Repair in Harlingen, TX

A ceiling stain, an occasional drip, or a leak that comes back every heavy rain deserves a closer look. The water you see inside may be getting in somewhere else on the roof. At Texas Contractors, Inc., we inspect leaking roofs across Harlingen and the Rio Grande Valley, document what we find, and explain whether a targeted repair or more extensive work makes sense.

Free inspection. No deposit. You pay when the job is done.

A leak doesn't automatically mean you need a new roof.

Some leaks come from one problem in one spot. Others are signs of wider damage or an aging roof. We look at the roof's condition and any earlier repairs, and explain what we found and why we recommend what we do. You get the proposed scope and price before you approve any work.

Where roof leaks start.

Damaged or missing shingles

Cracked, lifted, or missing shingles expose the layers underneath.

Flashing and roof connections

Flashing steers water away from joints, walls, and anything that comes through the roof. Damaged or poorly installed flashing lets water in.

Plumbing vent boots

The rubber seals around pipes on the roof dry out and crack, and Valley sun and summer heat speed that up.

Roof valleys

Valleys carry water where two roof slopes meet. Damaged materials, installation problems, or debris can cause leaks there.

Earlier repairs

A patch can fail when it never fixed the real source. A leak that keeps coming back deserves a real inspection, not another guess.

Why does my roof leak only during heavy rain?

Some problems only show up in a hard rain, or when wind pushes water sideways into a weak spot. In the Valley, Gulf storms and summer downpours often bring wind driven rain that a roof won't show on a calm day. A leak that stops after the rain hasn't fixed itself. Tell us when it happens, whether wind makes it worse, and whether the same stain has shown up before.

What to do when you notice a leak.

Keep everyone away from sagging ceilings and wet light fixtures or outlets. Don't climb onto a wet roof.

If it's safe, move belongings away from the water and take photos of the area. Write down when the leak started and what the weather was doing.

Then request an inspection or ask about temporary tarping. If there is an immediate danger to anyone's life or safety, call 911.

Temporary roof tarping.

We offer temporary roof tarping to help limit water damage until repairs can be done.

Tarping is scheduled during business hours, first come, first served, depending on how many requests are ahead of yours and crew availability, weather permitting, and only when the roof and site are safe to work on. We can't promise same day or next day service.

Safety comes first. We don't send crews out at night, because darkness limits visibility and makes roof access unsafe. We won't start or continue work in lightning, rain, high wind, poor visibility, or unsafe roof conditions. If a leak starts at night, protect the inside as best you can until we can reach you during business hours: buckets, towels, and moving belongings away from the water.

You can leave a request anytime through Oso, our virtual assistant, or by calling (956) 221-6300 and leaving a message. Include your name, callback number, property address, and a short description of the damage.

A request doesn't reserve a crew or confirm an appointment. Henry or Jacob will contact you during business hours to talk about availability and scheduling.

A tarp is temporary protection, not a permanent repair, and it can't guarantee every drop of water stops. We explain the work and the price before you approve it.

What happens during your inspection.

We ask about the leak and any earlier repairs, look at the accessible parts of the roof when conditions allow, and document what we find with photos, with drone images when they help show the roof's overall condition. We explain the recommended work and the price before you decide.

Some damage stays hidden until the old roofing comes off. If we find more, like soft or rotted decking, we show you what we found and talk through any change in scope and price before going further.

Repair or replace?

A targeted repair can make sense when the problem is limited and the rest of the roof is still in good shape.

Replacement deserves a look when wear is widespread, leaks keep showing up in different places, or the roof has major damage.

We explain why we recommend one or the other, so you can make an informed decision.

Leak repairs in Cameron County.

In Cameron County, many homes are insured through TWIA. On a TWIA insured home, a roof repair of 100 square feet or more, or one that involves the decking or framing, needs a windstorm inspection during the work so the home can keep its Certificate of Compliance. Repairs under 100 square feet that don't involve the decking or framing don't. We work with an engineer for windstorm inspections and tell you up front whether your repair needs one.

Frequently asked questions.

Can you repair my roof without replacing it?

Sometimes. It depends on where the leak starts, the condition of the roof around it, and how much damage there is. An inspection is the starting point.

Why is the ceiling stain away from the leak?

Water can run along the roofing layers or framing before it shows up inside. The stain shows where the water becomes visible, not always where it gets in.

How much will the repair cost?

It depends on access, the source of the leak, the materials involved, and any hidden damage. We explain the proposed scope and price after we inspect the problem.

Do you offer temporary roof tarping?

Yes. We offer temporary roof tarping during business hours, first come, first served, depending on crew availability, weather permitting, and only when conditions are safe. Service times aren't guaranteed, and we don't send crews at night. Leave a request through Oso or call (956) 221-6300, and Henry or Jacob will confirm availability with you.

Can I request tarping after hours?

Yes. Oso takes your information anytime, or you can call and leave a message. Henry or Jacob will get back to you during business hours. An after hours request doesn't mean a crew will come that night or that service is guaranteed the next day.

Will a tarp permanently fix the leak?

No. A tarp is temporary protection while permanent repairs are arranged, and it can't guarantee all water stops.

Is tarping free?

No. The inspection is free, but tarping is a paid service. We explain the price before you approve it.

Will you document what you find?

Yes. We document what we find with photos and explain the recommended work. Copies of the photos are available on request.

Do you repair mobile home roof leaks?

Yes. We handle mobile and manufactured home roof repairs. The approach depends on the roof's structure and condition.

Do you offer financing?

Yes. We offer financing through third party lenders, HFS Financial and Synchrony. Checking if you prequalify is free, takes a couple of minutes, and uses a soft credit check, so it does not affect your credit score. Financing is subject to credit approval. The lender decides approval, rates, and terms based on your credit and other factors, and we do not set or guarantee them. Cash or financed, no deposit is needed, and you pay nothing until the job is done and you are satisfied.

Do you accept credit cards?

Yes. We accept all major credit cards. A flat 1.75% card fee is added to credit card payments to cover processing costs. There is no fee for cash, check, or debit card. Card payments are made when the job is done, and no deposit is needed.
