Edinburg is the Hidalgo County seat and one of the fastest growing cities in the Valley, and its roofs take a beating from hail, wind and summer heat. The owner has built fences since 1987 and has been roofing since 2005.

Edinburg Knows Hail

Hail is not rare in Edinburg. In March 2012, hail up to baseball size, driven by 70 mph winds, hit the McAllen and Edinburg area. In May 2024, a storm in Edinburg brought gusts up to 70 mph, and Hidalgo County reported blown off shingles and downed trees.

Hail does not always leave damage you can see from the ground. It can crack shingles, knock off the granules that protect them from the sun, and loosen the seal that holds them down. A roof can look fine from the driveway and still start leaking months later.

What Valley Sun and Heat Do to Shingles

Shingles in the Rio Grande Valley work harder than shingles up north. Long summers of intense sun and heat dry them out, wear away the granules that protect them, and make them brittle over time. Add hail and high winds, and Valley roofs age faster than the label on the bundle suggests.

That is why a 50 year or lifetime shingle warranty does not mean a 50 year roof. No shingle lasts 50 years in this climate. From what we see on Valley jobs, many shingle roofs start showing real wear somewhere around 15 years. Roofs in full sun all day can wear out sooner, and shaded roofs with good ventilation can last longer. Every roof is different. Most long warranties cover defects in how the shingle was made, not normal wear from sun, heat and storms, and coverage often drops as the roof gets older. We explain what a warranty really covers before you sign anything.

What makes a roof last in the Valley is how it is built. Good attic ventilation keeps heat from cooking the shingles from below, a full system of matching parts keeps water out, and careful installation keeps the warranty valid.

Impact Resistant Shingles and Your Insurance

Impact resistant shingles are tested by an independent lab and rated Class 1 to Class 4. Class 4 is the toughest rating. We install impact resistant shingles for Edinburg homeowners who want a roof built to take hail.

According to the Texas Department of Insurance, impact resistant roofs may qualify for a discount on your homeowners insurance. Each insurance company sets its own discount, so call your agent and ask what yours offers.

After the install, we fill out the state form, TDI Form PC068, so you can send it to your insurance agent. If your insurance company requires an engineer's inspection for your roof, we hire the engineer and take care of it.

After a Storm, Start With a Free Inspection

We inspect Edinburg roofs from the ground, from the roof, and from the air with a drone, then show you the photos and video. If there is storm damage, the damage gets documented so you have what you need for your insurance claim, and the owner can meet your adjuster at the property to point out the damage. Your insurance company makes the final decision on the claim.

Permits Through Edinburg Building Safety

We pull the permits your job needs and work with the City of Edinburg Building Safety Department, which handles permits and inspections for repairs and new work in the city. We also carry General Liability Insurance, so your property is covered the whole time the crew is on the job.

Fences Built for Edinburg Yards

From cedar privacy fences for growing families to heavy duty steel gates welded on site, we build fences to fit your yard and your needs. The owner has been building fences since 1987.

For Rental Property Owners

Edinburg is home to UTRGV and a lot of rental homes. We work with landlords and property owners to replace or repair roofs and fences between tenants, with no deposit up front.

Mobile and Manufactured Home Roofs

Mobile and manufactured homes across Hidalgo County take the same hail, wind and sun as any other home, and their roofs often need more than new shingles. We tear off and re roof mobile and manufactured homes, and when the roof calls for it, evaluate whether it can be re pitched or rebuilt for better drainage. Learn more about mobile home roofing.

Edinburg Roofing and Fence Questions

Can hail damage a roof without me seeing it?

Yes. Hail can crack shingles and knock off their protective granules without leaving damage you can see from the ground. A close inspection, including from the air, is the best way to know.

How long will a shingle roof last in the Valley?

It depends on the roof. Sun, heat, shade, ventilation and storms all play a part. From what we see on Valley jobs, many shingle roofs start showing real wear somewhere around 15 years, and roofs in full sun all day can wear out sooner. A free inspection is the best way to know where your roof stands.

Will an impact resistant roof lower my insurance?

It may. The Texas Department of Insurance says impact resistant roofs may qualify for a discount, and each insurance company sets its own amount. Ask your agent what your policy offers.

Do you help with insurance claims?

Yes. We document the damage with photos and drone video and can meet your adjuster at the property. Your insurance company makes the final decision on the claim.

Do I need a permit to replace my roof in Edinburg?

We pull the permits your job needs through the City of Edinburg Building Safety Department, so you do not have to handle that paperwork.

What warranty comes with my roof?

When we install a complete CertainTeed roof system, including the shingles and the CertainTeed parts that go with them, the roof may qualify to be registered for a CertainTeed SureStart PLUS warranty. Coverage, terms and eligibility are set by CertainTeed and depend on the products installed. Restrictions apply. The warranty that fits your roof is explained in writing before you approve the job.

Do I have to pay a deposit?

No. Handing over money before any work is done takes a lot of trust, and we would not want to do it either. That is why we do not ask for a deposit. You pay nothing to start, and you pay in full once the job is complete.

Do you offer financing?

Yes. We offer financing through third party lenders, HFS Financial and Synchrony. Checking if you prequalify is free, takes a couple of minutes, and uses a soft credit check, so it does not affect your credit score. Financing is subject to credit approval. The lender decides approval, rates, and terms based on your credit and other factors, and we do not set or guarantee them. Cash or financed, no deposit is needed, and you pay nothing until the job is done and you are satisfied.

Do you accept credit cards?

Yes. We accept all major credit cards. A flat 1.75% card fee is added to credit card payments to cover processing costs. There is no fee for cash, check, or debit card. Card payments are made when the job is done, and no deposit is needed.

No deposit. You pay when the job is done.

Plenty of contractors want a deposit before the first shingle goes on. We don't. The job gets done first, and you pay when it's finished.
